Moving to Vietnam: free arrival checklist
Plan your move to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Da Nang. Use this checklist before departure and during your first week.

Before you leave
[ ] Check passport validity and your entry requirements with the official authority.
[ ] Confirm your arrival date, airport transfer and temporary accommodation.
[ ] Keep secure copies of travel documents, employment papers and insurance details.
[ ] Plan a budget for rent, deposits, transport and daily costs.

Your first days
[ ] Keep your accommodation address and a local contact available offline.
[ ] Arrange a local SIM or eSIM and install Zalo for local communication.
[ ] Ask your accommodation provider to confirm your temporary residence registration.
[ ] Save your insurer’s contact details and find a nearby clinic.

Your first week
[ ] Visit homes in person and check rent, deposit, utilities and lease terms before paying.
[ ] Check your route to work or school at the times you will travel.
[ ] Ask your chosen bank which documents it needs for your circumstances.
[ ] List any remaining document tasks with your employer or qualified adviser.
